Running 4 Heroes was created to honor our fallen First Responders and their families. We have expanded our Grant Program to the K9 sector as well. K9s are not only incredible companions to those who serve, but also they themselves serve the community, sometimes in dangerous situations. The Running 4 Heroes K9 Equipment Grant provides handlers with funds to ensure that these magnificent creatures have the appropriate safety and training equipment..
Effective April 2023, we will no longer offer ballistic/stab vests within the scope of our grants due to the fact that there are so many non-profits who focus solely on this specific piece of equipment. If you would like a list of those non-profits, simply message us directly and we will provide you with that information.
If you or someone you know is in need, please apply for this grant by filling out the digital application below. There is also an option to print out the application and mail it in. Those can be mailed to Running 4 Heroes, Inc. – P.O. Box 195879 – Winter Springs, FL 32719.
The following criteria must be met and will be verified during the Board of Director’s review process to ensure legitimacy:
- K9 must be currently nationally or state certified
- K9 must be owned by a First Responder Department or Jurisdiction
- K9s owned by an individual or the Handler, and those K9s who are working via lease/contract, are ineligible for this grant
- K9 Handler must be a full time Peace Officer currently employed by the same jurisdiction as K9
